Market Access Innovation Playbook

Life Sciences

Case Background

The cross-franchise Market Access team for a global pharmaceutical company frequently received requests to execute new ideas from field leadership. However, these incoming ideas were often incomplete, leaving the Market Access team struggling to properly frame and vet each one. Recognizing the need for a more systematic approach, the Market Access team was in the early stages of establishing a sub-team dedicated to Market Access Strategy & Innovation. Their goal was to create a formal method to inventory and address innovative ideas from field team leadership. By doing so, our Client aimed to streamline the evaluation process, ensure that valuable ideas were not overlooked, and ultimately enhance their strategic capabilities and responsiveness to market needs.

The Recombinators team collaborated closely with the Client to frame the nature of the ideas, identify typical solutions, and uncover the greatest roadblocks and inefficiencies experienced by the teams. Through comprehensive discussions, we gained a deep understanding of the client’s unique challenges and needs. Based on these insights, we crafted a detailed playbook designed to guide each idea from inception to implementation. This playbook was built upon our proven Precedent Driven Innovation Methodology and was designed to be flexible, allowing it to scale up or down in complexity depending on the level of innovation required to solve the problem, the budget involved, and the complexity of the solution. The playbook included step-by-step instructions and all supporting materials necessary to guide the user through each component of the process. It covered essential stages such as idea framing, idea creation and solution priming. Additionally, it provided tools for evaluating the potential impact of each idea and mechanisms for gathering feedback and iterating on solutions. This comprehensive approach ensured that the Market Access team could efficiently manage and implement innovative ideas that were coming from the field leadership, driving strategic growth and overcoming previous inefficiencies.

Market Access Innovation Playbook empowered the Market Access team with clear guidelines, supporting materials, and tools for feasibility analysis, resource allocation, and implementation planning.
